The Winged Alliance – Canadian Journey to Honour Poland

Dear Readers: We are presenting below a visual record of the journey to Poland of the three Irish-Canadian brothers: Captain Barry Sheehy, Captain Matt Sheehy, and Paul Sheehy. Their fascination with Poland and the Poles is extraordinary. Moved by the heroism of Polish soldiers fighting for Europe’s freedom during the Second World War, and especially by the saga of the 1st Armoured Brigade commanded by General Stanislaw Maczek, they decided to fly to Poland in order to honour the unappreciated valour of the Poles by laying wreaths at several war monuments in Warsaw. Aleksander Rybczyński, the editor-in-chief of Polska Canada, served as the co-ordinator of this memorable trip. Its participants hope that the contacts they have made in Poland will help continue the Canadian-Polish alliance in spreading worldwide the just image of Polish history, and in finding and proclaiming the truth in the times of rampant globalization that threatens the cultural and civilizational traditions of the West.

Jej uczestnicy mają nadzieję, że nawiązane w Polsce kontakty pozwolą na kontynuowanie kanadyjsko-polskiej współpracy, mającej na celu utrwalenie w oczach świata sprawiedliwego obrazu polskiej historii, dociekanie prawdy i jej głoszenie w czasach globalizacji i zacierania granic kulturowych i cywilizacyjnych.
