Ryde Lake, 12 km east of Gravenhurst, is typical of many in Ontario’s near-north Muskoka District. This 12 metre-deep lake drains into Kahshe Lake, home to the Ojibwa before European settlers arrived in the 1840s. This slide show presents scenic and close-up images of the fields, forest and waterfall on Ryde Lake’s eastern shore, bookended with aphorisms by Marcus Aurelius and the Buddha.
