We present an extraordinary Indian-Polish movie – the story of a camp for Polish children, survived from Soviet captivity, founded in 1942 by Maharaja of Nawanagar – Jam Saheb Digvijayasinhaji. Nearly eight hundred children found there a shelter and care during the turmoil of World War II. They were received with open arms in accordance with the Maharaja’s declaration, who greeted orphaned children with the words: Don’t consider yourself an orphan. You are Navanagarian now, and I am Bapu, father of all Navanagar inhabitants, including yourself.
The film was made from the perspective of several survivors who returned to the former Nawaganar years later.
The kind-hearted Maharaja opened his home to the orphaned Poland children and treated them like his own family.
Przedstawiamy niezwykły film produkcji indyjsko-polskiej, opowiadający historię obozu dla polskich dzieci, ocalonych z sowieckiej niewoli, założonego w 1942 roku przez maharadżę Nawanagaru – Jama Saheba Digvijayasinhaji. Blisko osiemset polskich dzieci znalazło w nim schronienie i troskliwą opiekę podczas zawieruchy II wojny światowej. Przyjęto je z otwartymi ramionami w zgodzie z deklaracją maharadży, który przywitał osierocone dzieci słowami: Nie uważajcie się za sieroty. Jesteście teraz Nawanagaryjczykami, ja jestem Bapu, ojciec wszystkich mieszkańców Nawanagaru, w tym również i wasz.
Film zrealizowano z perspektywy kilkorga ocalonych dzieci, które po latach powróciły na teren dawnego państwa Nawaganar.
